Set up ScamShield on Android
Once you download the ScamShield app, it needs to to be set up correctly so that it can protect you against scammers. To do this, you will need to give the app a few permissions, so it is able to block scam calls, and alert you to scam SMSes.
How to set up call blocking on Android
Step 1: Open the ScamShield app. Tap on 'Set up' next to 'Scam call blocking not set up'.
Step 2: Tap 'Next' to proceed.
Step 3: You will be shown a preview of the setting. Tap Next to proceed.
Step 4: Select 'ScamShield' in the pop-up > tap 'Set as default'. This will set ScamShield to be your default caller ID & spam app.
All done! On your ScamShield home screen, you will see that call blocking is now active.

How to set up SMS filtering on Android
Step 1: Tap on 'Set up' next to 'Scam SMS filtering...' to get started.
Step 2: Tap 'Next' to proceed.
Step 3: Tap 'Next' to proceed.
Please note that ScamShield will need all three of these permissions turned on to be able to filter SMSes successfully and notify you when an SMS is being filtered. ScamShield will not be able to send messages on your behalf, or read any of your existing messages.
Step 4: Tap 'Allow' on all 3 settings to allow ScamShield to:
1) Access Contacts: This will allow ScamShield to filter only messages that are sent from unknown senders who are not in your contacts.
2) Send Notifications: This will allow ScamShield to alert you when an incoming scam message is detected.
3) Send and view SMSes: This will allow ScamShield to view SMSes from unknown senders and evaluate if the message is a scam. ScamShield will not view SMSes from your saved contacts.
All done! On your ScamShield home screen, you will be able to see SMS filtering is now active.
